HumanKind is a globe-trotting hybrid documentary that presents an alternate history of humanity, a story that exposes the roots of systemic oppression and inequality and proves that more peaceful and caring societies are achievable.

Drawing from the work of cultural historian Riane Eisler, the film is based on her identification of two foundational lenses to view humanity: “domination” and “partnership”. Domination describes human societies based on force-based control, patriarchy and inequality. Partnership describes human societies built on equality (racial, gender, ethnic, etc), caring and mutual respect.

Through interviews with anthropologists, psychologists, economists and neuroscientists, as well as verite scenes of people living in partnership today, the film demonstrates that we can create a different destiny for humankind.
